BHARATI VIDYAPEETH
(DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY),
PUNE NEW LAW
COLLEGE
ABOUT ENVIRONMENT
CELL
Taking
forward the vision of our beloved Founder Chancellor Dr. Patangrao Kadam Sir of
a better, cleaner and a more Sustainable world, the Environment Cell of the New
Law College, Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed To Be University), Pune was constituted
under the able leadership of our Principal Dr. Bhagyashree Deshpande in the
year 2019.
Since it's
inception the Cell has diligently carried out a variety of tasks ranging from a
detailed study of various National and
International statutes dealing with Environment, field surveys of some
Protected Area Networks in the country to working in tandem with local
municipal authorities in order to better understand their Waste discharge and
Management techniques. Along with this, it has also maintained a regular
interface with institutions like the National Green Tribunal by holding
interactive sessions with students and members of the faculty alike.
Equally,
with the noble intention of sensitizing and spreading awareness amongst the
community, the Environment cell has regularly conducted talk shows, discussions
and exhibitions. With its annual flagship event U.R.J.A(Urgently. Required.
Joint. Action) drawing participation of the leading environmentalists of
our times, it has ardently pressed upon the most compelling issues of
Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Development in an emphatic manner.
Likewise,
this prestigious college group in it's maiden year has made significant
contributions in the field of research work by carrying out studies on a
diverse range of topics which were hitherto unattempted by others.
While
achieving this much in such a short span of time is no ordinary feet, the
Environment Cell equally commits itself for better world of tomorrow for our
future generations much in the same way our Founder Chancellor had envisioned
it for us.
